While red tape piles up on indifferent desks, the reality in the Amazon is devastating. Illegal mining ruthlessly poisons rivers with mercury, destroying entire ecosystems in a matter of days. Land trafficking and illegal encroachment advance unchecked, selling off ancestral forests to foreign settlements and private interests. We are witnessing a blind race driven by an overpopulated society that knows it is running out of air and forests, yet cares only for today's immediate profit.
